Biography

Associate Professor İbrahim Şahin is a European Board-certified clinical geneticist whose work spans cancer genetics, rare disease genomics and molecular diagnostic laboratory leadership. He holds certification from the European Board of Medical Genetics and has more than thirteen years of combined clinical, academic and laboratory experience.

He has established and directed genetic diagnostic laboratories in Türkiye and Bahrain, and has contributed to curriculum design and postgraduate supervision in clinical genetics and genomics. His laboratory work covers next-generation sequencing workflows, variant interpretation and quality management.

From 2021 to 2026, at the Arabian Gulf University in Bahrain, he established that country’s first molecular genetics next-generation sequencing laboratory, which was accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP). That accreditation was earned by the Bahrain laboratory during his earlier appointment there; it is not held by this department.
